PC sales down 21%, MSFT Windows & Office sales will be down 21%

Long term prospects for Microsoft are for continuing decline. Only question is how fast it will decline.

    • before Win 8, msft was not even a players in tablets and it has smartphone market share just 2.5%, now Surface Tablet PC and and more than a doazon of other tablets based on Win 8 are all out selling. All these tablets businesses are new for MSFt. The last time i checked expansyst, WIn 8 tablets are all among best sellers for tablets. As for smartphones, MSFT WIndows phones are selling very well in this quater, most expect WIndows market share finannnly breaking the 5%, surpassing Blackberry for the first time.

MSFT servers and Tools are doing extremely well. Over the last a couple of years, MSFt have worked to shift a high % of their Ofice to long term multi year contracts.

all considerred, MSFt future prospects are great, and the company is finanncially one of the strongest in the world, and it is trading like dirt with effective p/e just 5. Great buy!

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

      • bwu106, exactly right. MS not a player at all in Tablets. They were a bit player in phones. Win 8 story more about those areas then about PC. They have a lot of market to grab. Desktop is a mature market. Tablets and Smartphones are bigger growth area so MSFT going after these areas. Win8 was made for those devices. Tablets will work. Expect to see more Win8 tablets in the market. Windows phones flying off the shelf. People are getting bored with iPhone. AAPL doing nothing with that platform except minor improvements.

        Sentiment: Buy
