It doesn't make sense to pay for touchpad and pc separately
Motley fools said it appropriately, why in the world would anyone pay $600-800 for a pure PC and $200-500 for a touchpad (total $1300) , when you can pay $600-800 for a hybrid that does it all. Thus, Surface and hybrid computers are the wave of the future.
Speculation is that we will see a laptop that does all-- PC, touchpad, and mobile internet with phone. The only missing link to msft dominating the entire tech industry is acquiring a mobile internet access. Msft is a 4x bagger easily once everything is in place. Aapl stock is already seeing the threat.
remember, none of the PC makers had to buy W8, windows 7 was good enough for the current PC's but W7 wouldn't revolutionize anything. Windows 8 gives them the edge-- it is entirely different. Why over 60 million copies sold already? Because it will mape touchpads obselete, a hand down to the toddlers.
Surface is the first model of this hybrid, wait until the fine touchups have been made (Surface Pro). Wait til other PC companies also come out with their own versions of hybrids. Windows 8 is the dominant softwares utilized by every computer makers. Bank on it!!!!
