Windows 8 failing to stem post-PC tide, analyst say
CNET: "One of the top Wall Street analysts following Microsoft notes in a research report that Windows 8 is not catching on with consumers, calling the operating system's attempt to bridge tablet and PC functions "awkward."
"Awkard" is not the word for it. Can't use Metro on with dual monitors at all because one's arms aren't long enough to reach the edges of the screen. Microsoft, just give users the option to bypass Metro completely and use the Windows 7 desktop. This will solve at least half of your W8 problems.
There are lots of non-Microsoft alternatives to Windows 8 PC's. Microsoft isn't the ONLY game in town ya know. That's why MSFT shares are trading in the narrow range of 26.5-28.3 this year, while the Dow is hitting record highs. Maybe Windows Blue or Windows 9 could help? Consumers voted with their wallets and they voted for SOMETHING ELSE besides Windows 8 Metro!
"Windows 8 has failed to ebb the receding tide," says Sherlund. Awkwardly worded, but we get the point: Windows 8 has failed in its purpose. But Microsoft will keep trying, because the alternative is unthinkable. I expect to be greatly amused by the spectacle.
