It's more stable.
It's easy to skip past the Live Tiles(if you don't like them)
The desktop is not much different than Win 7, except for the start button.
You can do everything that you could with Win 7.
Some people just walk around with a thunder cloud over their head,
and I think these Win 8 haters fit in that group.
I dislike M$FT as much as the next guy, I think Ballmer is a buffoon,
and don't own the stock, but I love my Win 8 desktop. (And this is written from my MacBook)
I agree with you, im. It took me some initial adjusting to but I like it more and more as I use it. I think MS should put the Start Button on the classic desktop with a service pack and put the red "X" back in the upper right of programs so you can close them without having to use ALT+F4. (The third party Start Button utilities seem to throw you back to the Metro or Tile screen). But overall it certainly is much better than Vista and from the classic desktop it runs business programs as well as Windows 7. It does boot up and shut down much faster than Windows 7; installs printers more easily and seems more stable than Win7. I think more people will warm up to it over time but not sure that enough will to make it successful.
It's not that Windows 8 is bad for the platform it was designed - specifically tablets, but it is absolutely horrific for anything that wasn't designed for touch. Even analysts and market researches are blaming Windows 8 specifically for the steep decline in Q1 desktop sales. And now they report that W8 sales have plummeted.
I've used Win 8 on a second computer since December and I don't like it one bit. Faster??? It's not faster than my desk top with Win 7, Core i7, video card and a ton of RAM.
Let's see your apples to apples comparison????
How about fantastic apps in the Windows Store. How about just plain great music by clicking the Xbox apps. How about a modern looking large type and tiles. News Updates, Mail Updates and Pictures. How about Cloud Storage that syncs with Windows Phone or Your Office Machine. How about reading the new with a flick of a finger, How about searching up and down in bing with a flick of a finger. He is right, anyone knocking it is just trying to drag the stock down. Losers.
I used it and it sucks. It's speed and stability are not the problem -- it's the interface -- which has nothing to do with speed or stability. It is useless for business. It is a phone-clone toy operating system that has no place on a desktop or laptop used for serious business.. And by the way, all Windows operating systems boot up and run fast when they are new. They then get slower and slower over time because Microsoft can't seem to figure out what Apple seems to have figured out years ago -- how to keep an operating system from choking on it own sh&t.
You are correct. I had to try and use a google tablet today because I was somewhere without my pc or phone. It was so horrible I gave up. You have to be a rocket scientist and everything is squished together and small. I almost through it out the windows. Microsoft machines are a dream come true compared to google android. Why would you not like live tiles. You said that. They are great. Microsoft is the only one not filled with malware. Haters are just disgruntled shorts. Let them use google or apple, who cares.
Imagine what this guy must look like, smell like, act like in real lie. He lives his life on a message board saying Windows stinks. Think about it. This board attracts people that could not function in a normal office environment anywhere. He is here complaining every day in stead of working. Phand.theheteric5 has to be the most pathetic looser on this site.
Why don't you go use google or apple you phand.the theric5 idiot. Nobody is forcing Windows 8 on you. We would prefer you use the competition. Why are you here idiot. Go to google. You are and idiot if you are over 18.
