If they can do things with Linux then why are they still using WIN XP? There was a reason for using WIN-XP, otherwise these companies need not had to go for WIN XP. In other words, these companies will most likely or will only use WIN 7/8. Lot of applications that run on Windows eco system will not run on Linux, so they don't have choice to use Linux even if they wanted to use.
Sorry pal, WIN7 is very much supported. It is WIN XP that will soon not be supported anymore. The beauty of WIN OS is nobody needs training if they are already using prior versions of WIN OS. If somebody wants to switch the servers with TOY like OS (Mac OS or Chrome) then I think training is very much required.
In other words, the current PPS is all priced in for all the weakness that many industry pundits are bashing. Today after bell, MSFT will answer all these bashers with a stellar Q and also with a fantastic outlook for the coming Qs.
INTC already came up with good #s that reflects that PC industry is still doing good. IMO, all the high end servers should be treated as PCs. Going forward the whole industry is going fro virtualization and all that need high end servers. Facebook, Twitter, Ebay, Amazaon, DataCenters, SDN all these technologies need high end servers. Win7/8 is the solution. Chrome and Apple IOS is a toy.
