PC SALES ARE DOWN BECAUSE USERS PURCHASED THE W8 UPGRADE SOFTWARE
Their machines were fast enough to use the upgrade software. They sell huge touch screen displays that are perfect. In fact, all the stores like walmart installed up grade w8 software to all or almost all of their existing machines to sell as w8 computers. So the stores made the w7 machines w8 machines with the upgrade software. Same thing for home computers. Why can't the cnbc people figure it out.
Since I bought a W7 machine last year, I don't have a need for a new, W8 machine. That said, with all of the bad press surrounding W8, I was curious about it. Last weekend I was in Staples and saw a display set up for a few Windows 8 machines, so I decided to give it a try. It took about 5 minutes to sort of figure out how to move between pages, etc., but I found it pretty intuitive overall. I think that MSFT is a little early on creating a rather seamless OS that operates similarly to mobile devices and tablets. If they stick to they're plan, I think the public, which is understandably uncomfortable with the pace of change of such things, will come around to it. Once they do, perhaps MSFT will get back on top of their game, in a very competitive arena. I might buy my position in the stock back soon.
Go into the electronics section of any Walmart, you will see that in fact there are "old" PCs with Windows 8 installed, in fact I did not see anything else in the PC selections except W8. This is an extremely interesting insight, so perhaps W8 is not the disaster some think it is.
