    What is MSFTP?

I'm just learning the stock market and am wondering why Microsoft shows up as MSFT and MSFTP. There's not a lot info on Yahoo! about MSFTP. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

    • Microsoft issued a preferred stock at about $80 or so... that pays a dividend of 2.75% interest or so...and that redeems about three years after issue...at...about...$127...if the common stock is trading above that amount...They are using the proceeds of the preferred issue to buy their own common stock ! ...The exact details are available in their annual report...

      • The Microsoft preferred stock has a cap price of $102.24...and it redeems December '99...

Sun Micro's PersonalJava is going into TCI's digital set top boxes...Microsoft has windows CE in Web TV...and Microsoft is 10% owner of Comcast...so...there will probably be a least two operating systems for digital set top boxes...NCI...an affiliate of Oracle...has programs in RCA's Network Computer...and NCI also targets digital set top boxes...
