I've been a long time investor and first time poster. I'd like to get a realistic conversation going - What do you think of the long term prospects of IGR? I heard some bad things about real estate funds as they are still having trouble with their properties....so not sure what to do - I have a couple thousand shares. Do we believe IGR will get their act together and start driving growth?
I was also surprised to see the amount of investments in the US when it is advertised as a global portfolio.
Yeah, the U.S. holdings increased when they merged IIA with IGR a while back. IIA was a lightly traded U.S. Real Estate Closed-end fund. Made sense because the money in IIA wasn't very liquid with only about 20k shares traded daily.
I think IGR is undervalued at this time and the discount to NAV is very attractive. I'm in with 3100 shares and would love to see it hit a new 52-week high by month-end.
I like IGR because I think individual U.S. REITs are expensive at their current prices, yet IGR seems to keep its price in check.
