Does dividend yield calculation really have to be so complicated? The BARC.L 2007 dividend was 34p and you can find the stock price here:http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=barc.lUsing the BARC.L 11Apr2008 closing price of 453p, the percent dividend yield was 7.51% (34p/453p*100).
BCS pays two dividends. One in the spring and one in the fall. If you add the two together, you get something "close" to the Yahoo yield listed.
If you were paying attention you would know 34p is the sum of the two unequal dividends paid per BARC.L share for 2007. The Yahoo number is incorrect.
