A country where one man had all the wealth (big gap between rich and poor).
A country where all people had equal wealth (no gap between rich and poor).
Please, no verbal masterbation convoluted replies, just a straight up answer.
I happen to be a pilot and I have no interest in leaving a perfectly good airplane in flight. On the safety net issue I have such a net and I pay for it myself. I suggest the drones of our society do the same.
I do have more than some and less than others. I envy those with more but I have no desire to take what they have.
Now a bit about me. At age 19, I found myself with a wife and one kid and a high school drop out. I made it on my own after that with no help from government. NONE. If I could do it so can the others.
You can't ask such a simple question as that without getting a convoluted response...
There are lots of countries that have a smaller gap btw rich and poor than the US, but no person in their right mind would want to live there!
Assuming the same wealth in each country with no downtrend or uptrend in the future, than obviously No. 2 is the better choice for the many. But you'd be ignoring the real world by making silly assumptions like that. If you aren't going to incentivise success, the cumulative wealth of the nation will decline as sloth prevails.
