More and more politicians/economists are now saying that MW will cause dramatic job losses.
Those that support MW are backing off their reason that it gives people more money to spend. What idiotic thinking.
In case we forgot Eco 101: ... Increase in MW increases aggregate demand for goods and services which directly increases consumption and GDP ... the increase in sales obviously and directly increases employment as the various companies fight to protect and increase respective market share ...
Aldy's is hiring and offering $10.50/hr to start as cashier. You Art History or minority studies majors could apply. You do not even have to know how to make change. The checkout register does that task for you. So you are qualified.
Aldy's Hobby Lobby, GE, GM , VW et al way above MW, fantastic. They know what they can pay. Idiot politicians plus the leader of the country have no idea what any company can pay, yet they want to mandate their wages.. This is what I object to.
I saw a sign on the door of Hobby Lobby two years ago that said help wanted, starting pay $11.38 with paid holidays, health, vision and dental and 401k. But you probably had to take a drug test which would eliminate a lot of liberal Dems.
Read the article about the billions the big financials are giving out in bonuses. Ask yourself where does all that money come from. It doesn't come from thin air. And all the little fools are arguing about what a gradual increase in minimum wage will do to the economy. Are we all stupid? Will we ever learn?
Most large businesses want the minimum wage raised, you jealous numbskull. They're best, entry-level employees will be more motivated to stay, which is ultimately cheaper for the company. Don't you jealous dimwits know anything, ruck?
Geeez cheyn, we are only talking about burger flipping jobs. Large businesses already pay over MW. And just about all businesses in major cities pay more than the MW to start or they would not get anybody to apply for jobs.
Yo-Yo, As you state, 'employees will be more motivated to stay if a company must pay a minimum wage'. Why does a company have to have the gov't mandate their starting wage? There is no reason a company can't have a high starting wage to begin with. GM, VW, GE et al all have a much higher starting wage than MW.
Your argument is very, very weak for having the gov't mandate wages.. Across the country D O L says less than 2% of workers work for MW.
