I googled the sleep number bed and got to read a few complaints of it. Since I've never experienced the sleep number bed, I wonder if the complaints are valid? I just read about how the bed seem to slope down in the middle so that you and your significant other would fall into the middle of the bed. More concerning is the complaints about the customer service of the company.
I have had a 5000 for 5 years and can't sleep anywhere else. Both my boths have 5000 singles from the outlets. I have recommended to multiple people and as a result 4 beds were sold. One friend found a problem and called customer service and the replacement part was there in 2 two days with a post paid returned label for the parts. INCREDIBLE. LONG LONG LONG LONG.I bought at 24 and saw it go down and increased holdings at 13.89..... :)
Not everyone gets an outlet flyer. I encourage anyone who does get one to take it in to the store as they will honor it. That way you are keeping your tax dollars in the community and you can put a face with your purchase. The store can also give you 90 days same as cash if you choose to pay for it that way.
The customer service is the best in the industry. The only time you will have an issue regarding sloping in the middle is when the two people laying on the bed have large differences in their sleep number. A "lifter" is usually the remedy for this problem. A lifter is a piece of foam that goes under the middle of the air mattress that is the lower number. That brings that side up and drifting towards the middle stops. SC sends the lifters out free.
Also lots of praise (when I googled). Why not "experience it" for yourself? Go to a store...take advantage of 30 night guarantee... spend a few nights at a Radisson that has one. Whatever. We love ours. And everyone we know who has bought one loves it too.
I've had the 5000 now for over 6 years..of course it wasn't called the 5000 back then. Our bed is the traditional top. I can't imagine sleeping on anything else. My thirteen year old son has a full size 3000(classic) single air chamber...and it sleeps fabulously. Select Comfort makes the best bed on the market. For those who are considering returning the bed, or selling it, has not given the bed a true test.
