Don't destroy the Pascua Lama Glaciers (for greed) as the Glaciers are used for drinking water and agri-purposes by the local population ... see more at;
Congratulations to Export-Import Bank (Exim) and Export Development Canada (EDC) for doing the right thing (protecting the local drinking water);
Read all about the Pascua Glaciers right here;
From page 10 of 45;
"The Pascua Lama project is nestled amongst sensitive glaciers of the high Andes mountains of
Chile and Argentina";
From page 6 of 45 of the report;
"It is our recommendation that EDC and Exim Bank reject Barrick’s application for financing support for its Pascua Lama and/or Veladero projects"
An Argentine bill to protect glaciers by banning mining in ice zones could hinder a new multibillion-dollar gold mine... water depletion is a major negative consequence of gold mining. The large amount of water required to run a gold mining operation exacerbates its impact on local communities
GLACIERS aare in Argentina
The Gold is in Chile.
Go peddle your Glacier story as "excuse to shutdown PASCUA" because of Argentina Glaciers, elsewhere as a con job.
That is just another gimmick of ABX DEFEATED ON THE RUN from the spank in the teeth with Chilean miners boots at Pascua from MWR's crowd and corp.
Argentina was used to depermit PASCUA and now to flee it?
Barrick, YOU ARE CRIMINALS ON THE RUN and the decent patriotic USA citizens are asked to perform citizens arrests of all of Barrick's executives worldwide.
Too sad to hear that Barrick has chosen to hurt Glaciers in Argentina, to find an excuse to flee Pascua mining property fraud.
The Gold never was around the Glaciers and there are technologies that allow mining without such irresponsible mining ways as ABX abdicates for the area.
Pascua is far away from visible Glaciers in a photo published in Chilean newspaper by Barrick.
Something again does not add up at Barrick's Pascua Lama farce.
What glaciers are we talking about here? why Barrick? why Glaciers of any nature's sanctuaries be destroyed un necessarily?
Chile ore body and logistics are the answer to Pascua and Lama.
Chile is out of legal bounds to Barrick.
Its vacuum by pending collapse at Pascua fiasco, will have ABX to leave a huge hole in the metal markets.
Perhaps that is why to escape so huge losses, the metals price fixers are going to lower physical metal prices to palliate losses... interesting if they actually do it.
What could the fundamentals for such a treat be?
Higher Oil prices?
Higher minerals production cost?
higher processing and refining costs?
frontal attack against small & mid miners?
If the rivers are polluted, the damages to the region’s natural and cultural heritage and to traditional sources of work like farming would far outweigh the benefits offered by the company, say activists.
Environmental organisations, local residents of the Huasco Valley below the mine, representatives of the Catholic Church, Diaguita Indians claiming the land as their own, and local and foreign activists have been protesting the project for years.
