Thanks for the info out of Chile, has the following news any relationship to Barricks Pascua Lama Protocol legal problems as Barrick also has 10 days for these environmental charges to the Pascua Lama Project?
"The failed mining conditions, rules and measures set out in its Resolution of Environmental Qualification (RCA) obtained in 2006.
Environmental Superintendent (SMA) filed charges against the Nevada Mining SpA, owner of the Pascua Lama project, because of a default in conditions, standards and measures set out in its Resolution of Environmental Qualification (RCA) obtained in 2006, according to reports in the Internet portal ValorFuturo Wednesday.
The charges against the firm because the project began mining town located in Huasco in the Atacama region, began its activities without fully constructed system management and treatment of acid drainage sterile tank. This is compounded by the failure of the rules regarding the release of information, as well as the rules dictated by the SMA on environmental inspection agencies.
Now the mining will have 10 days to submit a program to perform its environmental obligations and end the punitive proceedings. Or 15 days to make releases to the superintendent, after which the sanction process continues.
In late January of this year, Nevada Mining SpA, a subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation group, presented a self-reporting to the SMA, indicating that failed to fulfill its obligations by not building the channels that allow the management of acid drainage sterile tank accordance with the provisions of the RCA Pascua Lama project. After that the SMA began an investigation that led to a rejection of the self-reporting."
