Article re history of Pascua Lama environmental problems and solutions

An article published today, June 14, in Capital online gives a comprehensive history of the environmental situation at Pascua Lama. It is in Spanish and the translation is a little rough, but I still think it is well worth the read. The article can be found by searching for: Pascua Lama: Cueste lo que cueste

    • mtstack, you do realize the market isn't believing Barricks "Problem Reaction Solution". We all know Barrick has stolen titles that don't belong to them, Tesoro 1 1/30 to Tesoro 12 1/5 is now the property of Mr Lopehandia thanks to a 2001 court ordered injunction preventing Barrick ownership. AMARILLO 1-3000 is only salt and nitrate titles not allowed for mining gold. Jorge Lopehandia has had his 1996 titles restituted and been given certified domain from Chiles mines commissioner in Vallaner, Chile. The fact Barrick is facing criminal charges in Chile over the fraudulent inclusion of titles they did not own is a material issue to Barrick because the effect of this charge will in fact end Barricks Pascua Lama Protocol and bring additional securities fraud charges due to Barricks inclusion of these stolen titles to their Pascua Lama SEC 6K and OSC 43-101 regulatory filings.

Barrick has been very aware of this recent criminal court action in Chile and the 2001 Chile court injunction. Barrick knows they are in seriousness trouble so what Barrick needed was a way to buy time so their lawyers and political influence can try and deal with the titles issues once again. So Barrick, like they did in the past, created environmental issues by this time dumping waste water into the rivers and using the environmental laws to 1. walk away from Pascua or 2. delay Pascua again.

Mtstack attempting to publish Barricks story line is consistent with his/her trying to mislead investors about Barrick Pascua problems. Fortunately ABX shareholders are not buying it and started class action proceedings against their own company. As we know Barrick has not reported all the fact about Pascua and the shareholders now now the real dark past history of Barrick at Pascua Lama.

Barrick has never owned titles at Pascua and that is FRAUD and Barrick knows it.

    • Thanks, very good read.

    • Thats ok mtstack you are a barrick seed, trying to perceive the honest investor with lies, we all know that barrick caused the environment issues all on its own to take attention away from the title fraud, this is in Chilean Courts right now, JL is succeeding v barrick at law, movie at 11 so you can give your bs a rest

      • TECHNICAL REPORT LOCATION: MINA PASCUA (PASCUA-LAMA) PROJECT, CHILE

Catalino Albanez Vergara, Ingeniero Ejecución en Minas [T.N.: This appears to mean Mining Enforcement Engineer; hereinafter I.E.M.], Expert Mine Surveyor since 1980 and Court-accredited Expert for the Appeals Court of La Serena, domiciled at “Pasaje Los Olivos 955”, La Serena, hereby states:

1.-Nevada Mining Company 1994 PASCUA-LAMA PROJECT THE AMARILLOS 1 THROUGH 3000.- This mineral deposit (PASCUA-LAMA project) is located inside of the AMARILLOS 1 THROUGH 3000 mining properties and it is in turn located within the groups of mining properties TESORO FIVE and TESORO SEVEN, where they are located as shown in the report presented to COREMA and the pertinent entities and public opinion for the purpose of obtaining the corresponding sectoral permits for the development of the mineral deposit denominated PASCUA-LAMA, which is complemented with photographs from “GEOGLE” [presumably “GOOGLE”] showing the whole yellow mountain (alteration deposit) which is also mentioned in the official Survey Record, in the chapter entitled “Acceso al HM” [Access to HM]; the same is described in later surveys of the TESORO FIVE and TESORO SEVEN groups.

CONCLUSIONS REGARDING LEGAL TITLE AUTHORITY AS AT JUNE 15, 2011. To this date there are no valid marginal annotations on these title deeds in the name of Barrick Gold Corporation-ABX of Canada, Barrick Chile or Minera Nevada Limitada, according to an original copy of same which I have before me. The original 2011 copy DOES certify by means of a marginal annotation the litigious rights of Mr. Jorge R. Lopehandia Cortes as the first-claim legal right to title.

FINAL CONCLUSION The properties LOS AMARILLOS 1 through 3000 and TESOROS should not have been included in the list of mining properties as being the property of BARRICK GOLD CORPORATION-ABX of Canada, due to the fact that these properties have not been nor are they now registered in the name of said firm at the Registrar of Mines of the City of Vallenar, in the Atacama Region, Republic of Chile, in conformity with Chilean law. Moreover, these title deeds could not have been transferred or sold or contracted in any manner whether in Chile or abroad due to the fact that a prohibition is in place, granted by a Chilean Court which prohibits the carrying out of actions or execution of contracts.

      • island lurker -
How come this article makes no mention of Jorge Lopehandia? Because his titles don't friggin matter w/ regards to Pascua Lama, that's why.
