This was the title of an article in todays Sunday Star Ledger, which is a local paper here in NJ. It was the second biggest article on the front page of the business section. Funny thing is that there are no TSC locations in NJ. I have been invested in TSC for two years now and thought it was interesting that they ran this article, especially after the recent run up. There is no mention of the stock price or appreciation over the last 2 years, just a good promo for the company. The article basically says that you can get anything you want here and that they carry a lot of stuff that wal-mart and HD do not. They article actually starts out with "the only tractors for sale at TSC are teh die-cast models makred for clearance" and goes on to talk about how they don't sell tractors but do stock some parts and that for the last 24 years Scarlett has been wrangling with the idea of chaning the name. Finally it talks about expansion in the east with Scarlett seeing opportunity to open 1,300 more stores and also seeking to open some stores in California. Nothing we all probably didn't know in this article but I found the timing and the location of the article to be interesting.
This is pre opening advertizing. This is done to raise awareness of TSCO before they enter a market area. This could signal a large entrance to NJ. The Q stores in DE and PA that were converted have done very so far. I have been told they are nearly the best performers by the employees. It makes sense. Quality had several stores in NJ before closing.
I know this is a bit off topic but do any of you own gold or follow the market. I was a gold bear and was going to sell it short but after researching it I bought 15 Dec. contracts a week or so ago, that's why I'm up so late, following the market on Access:) Gold broke out of a 23 year down trend in dec. 02 and retested the major downtrend line as support! Absolutely incredible, something's wrong here, I'm afraid the markets telling us a bit about the US economy and the value of the dollar. Either way I follow the trend and don't ask questions, the reasons show up soon enough. Anyone have thoughts on gold?
