Obviously a major theme regarding the earnings for this quarter has been the Weather. But that got me thinking...
The common belief is that since VF owns a good portion of its portfolio in the seasonal business that performs well during the winter, and because we've had mild winter so far that those sales must have been hurt for coats and boots etc.
I understand that, and it is a valid concern that makes sense.
But my thought is what if on the contrary the warm winter, which usually has people cooped up indoors, has caused people to go out and shop more than usual and actually offset any weakness from a poor winter season from other segments (and maybe even VF's seasonal segments).
What do people think about this? We'll find out next week, not that it will change my long term position, it's just entertaining to watch it unfold.
