Has Vringo made any stupid or uncalculated moves so far? These guys are very strategic
and smart. Yes, they will have to negotiate a settlement but Google has the resources to pay
a substantial settlement to make this all go away. Why would Google risk losing at trial when its
own customers are at risk?
Also, the move to go after ZTE for license payments is another great move. If Google settles or
loses in court, ZTE will feel the pressure to settle like they did with Ericsson. In the 9/26 press
release, the following was stated:
"In January this year ZTE settled with Ericsson for $676 million and an ongoing license with undisclosed amounts going forward."
One can control Vringo a "patent troll" all they want but it's really a brilliant business move
and we will see more companies suing for patent infringement.
The actual amount of settlement or reward will determine the short-term share price. Because
management is very strategic and calculating, the long-term share prices certainly could
approach the $30+ range that some have estimated. It won't get there overnight as VRNG
will be heavily traded in the coming days, weeks and months.
That's why I see a rally into the close amid the possibility of a settlement announcement
over the weekend or sometime next week. I think VRNG finishes above $5.00 today.
Same with me...I got out on the runup yesterday, but missed the low today. No matter, got back in at the selloff EOD. Sorry bobaloo was wrong, but not really. Now I'm back in and ready for an even bigger payoff if all goes well.
