Google could have settled for $600M before the trial began. Now, they have to pony up $2B to make mends.

    • Google has infringed. Google still infringes (willfully). Google had no defense and lost badly. Google has no good grounds for appeal. Google continues to delay the court. Google lies (they are not attempting to negotiate with VRNG and were caught). All that is left is for Google to pay. Yes, they may appeal. Yes, the appeal will be denied (losing badly is not grounds for appeal). Yes, this will hurry up settlements for other outstanding cases.

    • This could be quite a historic event IF the settlement with GOOG comes to light . .they know they have to pay. Why not just license that and buy VRNG or as many shares you can in the meantime and watch MSFT and the rest deal with your new I/P dept ? . . The shorts are going to have to compete with the institutions and sideline retail investor for shares after the news hits . A monumental short-squeeze is def possible ! ..an appeal post ruling (might) give the shorts a chance to cover under 5 . . however a settlement would fry them . There is no out .

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
