So one thing we know from ZTE now is that ZTE would like to settle.
and I guess we can assume ZTE doesn't want to pay what VRNG wants them to pay.
ZTE is now trying to get the EU courts to help by saying vrng isn't being "FRAND LY"
My conclusion vrng is getting to ZTE and someday we will see the money.
FRAND is in the eye of the beholder.
IDCC wanted 2% for every phone Huawei sold.
Huawei wanted to pay UP TO .2%, or 1/100 of what idcc wanted.
Huawei filed a complaint with the EU, and with China.
China threatened idcc management and lawyers with jail time.
idcc submitted, and an arbitrator is working on the amount.
it won't be 2%, like idcc wants.
so when zte files a complaint with the Chinese court, vrng will also submit, and won't get nearly what they want either.
for years, u.s. and international courts sided with u.s. companies.
for ever, the Chinese courts will try to protect their own businesses.
