Go into your local JCP and see for yourself. Better yet, ask the cashier what's been happening lately. Your eyes and ears are as good as an analysts. I've done the above - and the clear message is that customers have returned and business is brisk over the last 6 weeks. Positive comps (weeklys - year over year) are already happening. It's just a matter of when they will announce them and for what timeframe (weekly, monthly, quarterly comps).
Get ready to be shouted down. The paid short posters have no rebuttal to this except to attack your credibility. I've been in a dozen, maybe more...not once in the last month has anyone said anything less than, "It's improved, yes." Mostly I hear, "Definitely, definitely!" Many, many times I here, "We're packed on weekends from open to close and the consumers tell us they love the store." It took time, too much time. But we got the best of Roon Johnson and now have the perfect CEO in place to merchandise the environment.
No inside knowledge Retay, but every Monday morning each store has a team meeting where they review the weekend sales numbers, how they compared to last year, and how that store ranked versus other stores in it's region. All public data obtained via conversations with actual employees. Add that to a some homework on which stores/regions are good proxies for the company as a whole and you can get some meaningful insight to make an intelligent decision.
Or you could listen to anonymous blowhards with nothing of value to add!
