I'm bored. I'm so tired of that fat lady singing I don't even notice her anymore. To you new posters: Everything is a rehash of 1999-2000 our previous "near death experience". We dipped below 10, long time posters were born. Boooring.
Good things come from these times that are worth mentioning. Change. Yeah, I know posters. (JCP will be worth change) hehe. Really I love these times because it's an excuse to cut costs which is always good.
I have my favorite posters: beetleruss(turdboy), lancer2k(longest running poster) and a great cut and paster
Ron Johnson gutted the seasoned staff of JC Penney. This is what dooms the company. The people who really knew the ins and outs of running a big retailer are largely gone. Plus Ron Johnson ran off about one third of JCP's shoppers with his rampant changes. That is simply devastating. It looks like a few have returned but most have stayed away. Most have now become re-accustomed to another retailer's marketing ploys and they will be next to impossible to win back.
With the collective organizational knowledge greatly reduced by the staffing turmoil and the customer base decimated by the radical changes, JCP doesn't stand much of a chance. Department stores now find their lunch being eaten by everyone from internet retailers to specialty retailers. With JCP being among the weaker of the major U.S. retailers, JCP becomes the sick / injured member of the pack that gets left behind for the carnivores. It's not pretty but that's the way natural selection works. The only question remaining now is how many months does JCP have left. Time will tell.
Pennyman, you're back. We missed you and your posts. Your beloved company is going down. I've been laughing at the recent events so hard my side hurts. All the denying the company is doing is real funny. Cant wait to see the losses they post for Q2. jcp might as well file for bankruptcy and get it over with. No sense in trying to save a terminally ill company. What on earth are you going to do when your job is gone Pennyman ?
