Ivan just went to cat 5 packing 160 mph winds. Maybe one of your neighboring states will get hit instead. The weather reports show from Galveston to Florida as the range for a possible landfall. If it stays in the Gulf, hurricanes really gain strength because of the warm water. The weather report shows some easterly pressure which would normally push the hurricane to Florida, but considering the strentgh of the hurricane, it may just give you guys a break. Not good for insurance companies, because neighboring states aren't part of the catastrophe fund which Florida has amassed and the deductibles are a lot lower in other regions. Next week could be interesting.
Service predicts 115mph winds on landfall if in fact it hits Florida. This one could move further to the east and hit the Bahamas and then turn toward the the US coast. Jamaica & Cuba for sure then? This is all part of the insurance business.
