    • glad to see u have some balls.

    • I think your right! Allstate is probably a good take over. Here is one rumor I heard. Ford company, Sounds crazy but I hear this might be a real possibilty.

    • I guess so did I. Potential rumors??? WOW!!!!

    • and make sure its in print.

    • just dont leave us hanging ok.

    • I've just heard about potential takeover rumors!!!!!!!!!!!

    • buyout allstate would fit well with a bigger company.look for 40 +as a takeover price.

    • would allow you to run "what if" scenarios and
target market competitive segments of your market. I did
that in my market without a rater by collecting dec
pages from prospects and new business to see where I
was competitive. Doing this manually is probably not
the fastest and most accurate method and even
computerized raters are only as good as the data that is
input. I know the early raters on Progressive's website
were not very accurate but later on they got ALLs
rates correct down to the penny.
      The way I
understood the program was that agents would not get this
technology, a special market group (regional) would run the
comparisons and communicate the data to the different
markets. I think it would be better to have the raters and
some type of report generator on the desktop rather
than having to get the info second hand. Hopefully
they won't bill the agents for this service.

    • a wise acre. But what is the advantage to have a
comparative rater? I know what it does. OK, so someone calls
an agent. They get the info. They quote. Allstate
rate $800, Progressive rate $775, State Farm $750. Now
what? It's not like the Allstate agent can then go in
and lower his or her rate to $745. So who cares?
What's the big whoop in that? You find out you were
higher when you don't get the order. Am I missing
something here? Also, many software companies already sell
comparative rating software. Couldn't Allstate have just
bought from them and had it up and running tomorrow.
Appreciate the response, maybe I'm out of touch here.
Wishing the best to Allstate and all associated with the

    • The other 2/3 of the North Central Region is
hearing 2nd quarter 2000. In fact, some of the key
"players" met with an agent a week or two ago and discussed
some of the issues. They seem to have a good feel and
aren't about to take the typical HO crap. There's a good
team working up the project, but they'll probably
either get shut down by the new (? - sos?) establishment
or will be forced into the long term project (the
ones that drag on for a few years and are replaced by
something else thats going to save the co).

said, I do believe that there will be improvement.
We're losing dozens of customers a week and it can only
get better. Some changes are going to be made (must
be) to give us some market. They keep saying that it
won't mean lower rates for everyone, but we'll pick our
spots and really close the gap. What a concept... Isn't
that all we've been asking for?
