Is my top result on LTE in my area. Tested with speedtest dot net app on iPhone 5 with full bars. Avg is 30/25 with less than full signal. For the top result I was about 1/4 mile from the tower with a direct line of sight and stopped at an intersection.
IEEE 802.11ac is a wireless computer networking standard of 802.11, currently under development (Draft 3.0), providing high-throughput wireless local area networks on the 5 GHz band. Standard finalization is anticipated in late 2012, with final 802.11 Working Group approval in late 2013. According to a study, devices with the 802.11ac specification are expected to become common by 2015 with an estimated one billion spread around the world.
Theoretically, this specification will enable multi-station WLAN throughput of at least 1 gigabit per second and a maximum single link throughput of at least 500 megabits per second (500 Mbit/s). This is accomplished by extending the air interface concepts embraced by 802.11n: wider RF bandwidth (up to 160 MHz), more MIMO spatial streams (up to 8), multi-user MIMO, and high-density modulation (up to 256 QAM).
I was able to carry over my unlimited plan on AT&T but I think they throttle at 5GB. Will see when I hit the limit what happens as I'm tethered 50% of the time. And those wannabes thought I was posting from moms basement, lol. The rest of the fam is on a 6GB shared plan, which if I do get throttled I'll jump to and up the GB's. The higher GB share plan would actually be cheaper but I don't want to lose my unlimited data at the moment. Now I just need grant (chpwn) to release the JB and unleash this beast!
