    crack spread today is

I think you have to look at the crack spread on Brent. Light Sweet crude is like at a $7 discount to brent. So for the Yorktown refinery, which gets its crude from Europe and canada, i think the cracks would be much much lower.

The elpaso refinery may be on light sweet crude so it is probably doing very very well.

But from what i can tell, the stock can't go up from here without Yorktown reopening. And that doesn't run on cheap Texas crude. Which i think might be the problem.

    • Good point. Are you sure that Yorktown gets all its crude from Europe ( brent ) ?

      • Yorktown got its crude from North Sea (i assume thats brent), Africa, and Canada. Africa probably is a brent pricing. Not sure about Canada. I think they got heavy crude from canada and they used to get that at a huge discount. But then more recently that discount went a way. I think thats what killed the Yorktown profitabiity. I know expert at all though. Logic would say that with the higher cracks Yorktown should be restarted. But with Brent at a $7 premium before shipping costs, maybe Yorktown cracks would still be in the crapper. Any experts care to weigh in?
