"Among organizations surveyed, more than 20% had already deployed open source business intelligence. Another 19% were in development with open source BI, with an additional 43% currently considering open source BI. The results of this primary research clearly show that open source business intelligence has made its way into many organizations.
According to the survey, open source BI deployments are likely to grow significantly. For example, 11% of organizations were already deploying open source BI to 1,000 or more users, with more than 38% planning to support more than 1,000 users at full deployment. And only 4% of survey respondents indicated that they did not plan to deploy additional open source BI software."
Cash, thanks for the info and link. I'd like to see such a study not sponsored by a vendor though.
What's your take on Actuate versus someone like Pentaho? I've seen you on this board off and on for many months. You've posted a lot of great info. It looked like you did a lot of trading here. Is that your strategy here or are you looking more long-term these days?
<<What's your take on Actuate versus someone like Pentaho?>>
Actuate is the one that I am interested in. ACTU is not the same as last year. Current ACTU is actually three companies in one (Open source BIRT, Performancesoft, original Actuate). We are at very exciting phase of this company since the PPS is still low while many progresses have been accomplished. One of ACTU problem in past was its flat revenue around $25 MM for a few years but last two quarters a new level has been established. With more sale of BIRT, performancesoft and new software (platform 9), ACTU revenue and earnings will be at new higher levels. Current ACTU PPS has not reflected these progress yet completely. My expectation is at least $7 by the end of this year.
