Not only do these guys have the best brand in internet bookselling, they may have the best brand period on the Web. What's that worth? At least half their market cap, I would say.

In addition, this next year is when Internet commerce really takes off. In fact this holiday season, I bet Amazon blows aways sales forcasts. The masses are getting comfortable with e-commerce and Amazon has all these $10-$30 gifts you can buy risk and hassle free. Try that (hassle free shopping) at any major bookstore in America in the next three weeks.

    Great Brand
    Great Growth

Not enough to bring profitability, but enough to drive the price even higher.

    • One problem with their brand identity,is that they have been identified as sending Unsolicited E-mails.

Since this is widely regarded as a *Bad* thing on the internet, and since Amazon.com is dependent on the internet, this is going to have at least some effect on their sales.

As a matter of fact, people news.admin.net-abuse.email are starting a boycott of Amazon.Com, with alternate sources of on-line book-sellers.

I think Amazon.Com will still show very good sales growth over Christmas, but longer term, this may very well be a problem for
      them.

The moral is don't p*ss off the most knowledgeable of your potential customers, they'll find ways to get the word out to others.

    • Overstock is catching up.

    • You were wrong, dude. Stock is profitable.
