shorts just don't get it.....AMZN isn't about earnings or PE ratio

    it's about future growth
buying shares in AMZN gives ownership in the possibility that the company could take over the world!......

there is a reason there is only 2% short interest.
no big funds/institutions want to jump in front of the best growth story train.
only shorts are weak handed little guys who have to continually cover each time it moves higher (i presume most of the folks here on this board).

    • we know its about losing money and giving kindles away at a loss......that is what america is all about.........

    • right, what company out there needs to make any money? If you change the zeros of earning 28 Billion and making 98 Million that's the same as making 28,000 in sales and 980 in profit, and that margin is falling quickly.

    • ya, them & facebook i suppose

look at the intraday AMZN chart - that's what one could be upset about

someone knew the numbers were bad,, so insiders sprung the news 1-2 min early and you can see the 6 dollar drop in the last two minute

when company insiders or whatever electronic filing agency knows its bad, and for whatever reason the stock is $25 dollars higher - irrational "exuberance" comes to mind, and yet this old adage comes to mind,, of "BULLS MAKE MONEY, BEARS MAKE MONEY, PIGS GET SLAUGHTERED"
      - that exists in a healthy natural market

in this market of late "BULLS MAKE MONEY & BEARS GET SLAUGHTERED"
      - not healthy

      Marc Faber is right

time to buy gold and sit sidelines

I agree and don't agree: I think it's more about market liquidity and during those period, it's always about the future growth: the reality is that AMZN has been earnings challenged for 17 years to capture sales. Whether that sales capture can be squeezed to the bottome through the juicer is not an issue , yet but tapping the bond market tells you that it needs money to operate with all the minimum earings. It's not a mom and pop stock, it's a trading stock and it's market cap is getting top 20 mainstreeam doing it. good luck and congrats if you have a piece of it and all the belief. Certainly the sales caputure at any price is being celbrated without question of any earnings model no doubt.

    • This is a mature company, those arguments don't fly, if they don't have real profit growth by now, they never will

    • earnings will come.....eventually.
once wall street decides to punish AMZN for lack of earnings they will crank up the rates they charge.
for now though AMZN is in customer acquisition mode.
once they own a zillion customers.....then they will improve profit margins.

anyone notice that margins improved in this Q4 report today?

Yeah good point, it is that simple, once wall street asks for it, AMZN can increase everything by 10% and all the customers will be happy to pay extra... No way, margins improved on a $130 billion company?

    • WHAT A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • It really sounds like you don't get it

    • It's called Walmart

    • "future earnings?!" The stock has been around for 20 years yet there is still no earnings. The future is now and the stock will be crushed. The only thing supporting it is some big fund tactical trading /manipulating the price quarter after quarter.
