    Valuation

The consensus message here seems to be that the online internet book retailing business is going to be very competitive and that Amazon may never be very profitable. While I like ordering books online, I have used various outfits and find them basically
the same. My guess is that Barnes and Noble will keep online book prices low enough that Amazon will not be profitable. Amazon will probably continue to show increased sales, but it reminds me of the company that tried to make up what they lost per unit by increasing sales. As a result, Amazon's valuation strikes me as way out of line.

      No such catalyst this year...

AMZN likely dead money in this market...

Hard to see how EBAY groiwng top line ta 30% is trading at a discount to AMZN with less than 1/2 the growth rate...

I believe both are expected to earn about the same EPS this year if all goes well...

Stock really belongs below $30 based on fundamnetals abut trade higher due to the "Bill Miller effect"...he simply overowns this stock...

I'm hoping for a haircut of $2-4 points after hours....but would be satisfied to see the stock trade dead here...

Wen long some puts...naked and also sold some $32.50 volatility against the Auusts $45s yesterday...

Good luck to all those who are "playing the number"....

Hoepfully we wake up tomorrwo to see the bid at $29 a share!!!

...one might expect their retained earnings grow negatively...but we'll just need to wait and see.

This message is from 1997. It's six years later and this guy ("webanalyst") seems pretty precient.
