Sneering At Chemicals and Materials Sends Industrial Customers Elsewhere?! To Eastman Chemical?
THE WEAK IN REVIEW
Good Afternoon, Bonsoir, Guten Abend, Buona Sera,
Investors, does Ms. Kullman think customers don't notice, are impervious when she brags she is running only a "science-based food, fuel, and protection" boutique these days? And she's severely cost-slashing those areas of the Company, namely chemicals and chemical-related materials with which she doesn't feel comfortable? How much attention and good service are industrial customers going to get from a Company whose imperious leader has announced a going-out-of-business sale for chemicals and related materials?
Dan Caplinger, a frequent writer and analyst for Motley Fool spoke to the alienation of DuPont customers in the week just past. Mr. Caplinger makes this very insightful point:
"DuPont (NYSE: DD ) is down 0.9%, as the company could face opposition from customers as it moves to focus more on its agribusiness segment."
Ellen Kullman, DuPont Chieftess, has extensively disseminated her disdaining views on chemicals and related materials, and has announced her intention to dump DuPont Performance Chemicals, which includes everything from Teflon to acids to TIO2 products to the new highly questionable, potentially dangerous Kullman Koolant for car A/C (DuPont/Honeywell HFO-1234yf). The uncertainty and severe cost-slashing going on is undoubtedly an alienating force with customers. And who wants to deal with DuPont's pervasively demoralised people down in the ranks? Expect sales revenues, and earnings, to continue to suffer at DuPont.
