    Why the high volume drop?

    • Share price is dropping & I think will go down more. This drop has been fairly normal with LINE most quarters. Usually drops when distribution date is coming, but did not do this last Qtr. Some people are selling before dist. & buying back about a month later & making more $$ than the Q-distribution.

IMO, LINE is a good stock to hold for the long run and buy more shares with the dist. LINE has hedging out 5-years so think that the yield will continue. Reinvesting shares has grown my total shares a lot each year.

The biggest pain is dealing with IRS taxes every year with a MLP in a taxable account

      • Patch,
I agree with you about the painful tax stuff in a regular acct. Why don't you simply sell LINE and buy LNCO? (Of course you may be locked in because of capital gains and the tax-form horror - both state and fed - when you sell. And I should note that when I trade LINE I make sure not to be a record holder on the last day of the month. That way my K-1 just shows zeros and I ignore it.)

    • All I can see is the Bozos at Mot fool saying that LINE lost 98% of profits due to hedging. I have no idea what they are talking about since forward contracts have been at higher prices for years now and LINE has increased its hedging. I think it is safe to say MF does not understand accounting or the industry.

The other trend is high dividend payers getting dumped in general and LPs getting hit in particular. It seems to me that this is due to normally small trade volumes and armatures using stop orders they have forgotten about -the idiots deserve to get their shares taken away.

    • My guess is that an institution or mutual fund is bailing and that when they're done the units will show a nice bounce. But from what PPS I haven't a clue. In any case I bought just a few in the 38s just to round out my wife's and my holdings in our IRAs.
      Also picked up 4K for 38.40 for a fingers-crossed day trade. Stop-loss at 38.10.

      • Got a tad lucky and sold the 4K in the 38.80s. The cratering did seem overdone.

      • Individual Investors are heavily older and traditional. Add income then growth partnerships and we are way up this scale.
The first leg of what I expect to be the Obama correction and then economic flat line to recession in 2013 is more likely than not.
It is individual investors taking their money out of partnership units and paying the gains this year before marginal tax rates explode or something is done to damage the energy mlp format.
It is not a bad sign the discount between the more liquid c units and partnership units are narrowing. It is individuals and not the ‘smart’ money changing the valuation.
Good fortune all Americans. I hope Obama moves to the middle but rational experience means we should expected words and policies which do not match.

Please stay well diversified. We live in an irrational America. Happened before and we have come through it before. But it is probably going to be a very nasty ride through this period.

    • Drop?

It's already sold off today as many shares it usually trades in a whole day.
