I do know dollar cost averaging. However I think in this case trying to cost average before year end will likely result in losing money. I am not waiting for 34, but I think we could see that number. I am being cautious, not greedy, big difference.
This management has in the past done buybacks as a price signal. I am watching for that as well as personal inside buys,
It seems most of the 'pro' still believe our government is functioning rationally and a deal will occur. Odds are that would really impact the market if it breaks the other way. Not a symmetrical risk and everything with a great deal of individual ownership could get wild.
You don't "lose money" with DCA. You basically lower your base but with smaller purchases. When stock turns around it tends to climb steeply and you wreak the benefit. Timing Linn doesn't work...just my 2 c.
