Wow, was I off! Having forgotten that the year-end audit delays the earnings announcement and CC, I thought that this was the big week. Wrong! Linn will probably announce the distribution next week and not come out with earnings until February. Last year the earnings announcement, following year's outlook, and CC were on Feb. 23. Now I don't exactly know how I'll deal with my options. Sell just before ex-div and consider getting back in if the price looks right? Dunno yet.
Now that my initial option-purchase plan has gone awry because of my not-so-clever confusion with dates, I sold for a profit of about 8K. Not bad for a two-week hold. Just dumb luck, though, as I don't think I'd have bought if the calendar section of my brain had been operative. Of course, LINE might still move up smartly into the distribution, but I was counting on more than that. Moreover, the Feb. calls expire before the earnings announcement and CC; also, there's the threat of an SO, which will probably come calling sooner rather than later. (This is kind of like the time I mistakenly bet on the wrong horse, a hopeless longshot, at Santa Anita and it won.)
