When this newsline first appeared a few years ago, I questioned a couple of their calls. I looked up the credentials of the writer. His previous credentials were as a real estate agent. Seeking Alpha is on my personal block list, as is Minyanville
Anybody can be a writer for SA which in itself is a problem. I don't agree with a system that lets anybody with a opinion and who knows? stock long of short to throw something out there. Adam f has done more to hurt companies and he is in no way qualified to make these calls. It's just his opinion but it does more harm than good. I don't even read any of SA stories and i would never invest based on them GL2ALL Mike
The quality of the SA articles ranges from useless and completely wrong to some of the best financial analysis you can find. You have seen the bad. For the good, look for the recent article on MLPs by Factoids, who posts regularly on the Investor Village MLP board.
Seeking Alpha is simply a venue. Viewpoints are based on the individual writers of articles just as posts on this board are. Within the framework of its loose rules, Yahoo isn't taking a position on LINE. As with SA, it's just a place where various individuals post. It's specious to generalize about SA.
some SA articles are good. Others seem to be fodder for the short biased hedge funds to attack companies,. Hope the latest bashers are wrong. Looks like they are taking us down again. Maybe I should try another bull call spread as I did when we went lower a week or two ago. .
Thanks Ron. I was mislead by their website. Here is their self-description. The published statement "financial experts" ... I took as real
"Seeking Alpha - Stock Market News & Financial Analysis
Stock market news & financial analysis, including free earnings call transcripts, investment ideas and ETF & stock research written by finance experts."
You do not trade against them and win 98% of those trades. Get bloody real, you must think we all feel off the turnip wagon coming into town. And I am sure you go against Jim Cramer and win 102% of the time.
There are a lot of good writers on SA as well as bad ones.
You can filter out all information from everywhere of you want - then you won't have to see the rubbish but you'll also never get any information at all.
Good point Liza. However, every time I go to one of Seeking Alpha articles, the computer slows down. The ad-clicks overwhelm the URL history.
As to not getting any information at all... there are four or more excellent wire services I use, and many others I read from time to time.
It's also time for an apology, regarding my reference to a real estate agent. NO diss intended. I should have phrased it to the tune that the writers were not from the Harvard School of Business, Wharton, Rand and so on.
