rlp'd crack of doom dance continues - Will the Monterey Shale destroy California's climate plan?
My latest report for Next Generation is now online. It takes up a question little discussed in California's climate debate until now - whether the huge amount of oil hidden in the Monterey Shale of Central and Southern California could prevent the state from complying with its ambitious climate goals. The report looks at the unknown factor in this question, which is how fast production could ramp up.
The question is dicey because the Monterey Shale boom hasn't begun yet. Oil company engineers are still working feverishly to solve technical/geological problems in the formation, which is much more complex than other shale oil formations in North Dakota and Texas. But if these problems are solved, oil production could become a gusher. Or, conversely, the whole thing could be an over-hyped bust.
My report sketches out the factors and implications of several likely scenarios. The report's next chapter, due out next week, will calculate the greenhouse gas emissions from those scenarios and explain their impact on California's climate goals. Here's a teaser: A USA worth of emissions - or maybe twice the Keystone XL?
With the pace of technology and perhaps a trillion in wealth in the shale it will be figured out. Mr Hamm has more than enough to keep him busy or he would be figuring out the Monterey Shale. America would once again benefit but the reality is the secular pagan Progressive believe they are flush with cash. So they write a misleading quote out of full context and the OLB posts it. - Opinions add to rational judgement how?
Sooner or later it will be the exorbitant pensions checks or drill. Then it will be drill. But as we see with Detroit government can kite pensions for generations until the final reality.
The question in the nonsense you posted is the M shale going to have the technology to developed.
Which is completely different from Mr. Hamm's response is as of right now.
The reality is the way efficiency is being developed in other fields, they our entrepreneurs were doing last year is knuckle dragging. It is the nature of entrepreneurship.
Bakken was identical position when Mr. Hamm began. The Progressive political oil majors just went along with the 'it is impossible' chant so they could be super expensive offshore approvals. Which due to cost blocks out our entrepreneurs all rational Americans love and cheer on.
Believe me if Mr. Hamm was not distracted by so much opportunity it other places, he would figure out the M shale. Which is completely different from over coming the secular pagan Progressive state religion impose in California. Dakota is filled will common sense Christians with the duty to be honest and logically objective.
