      • Briefing: Secondary play on BOOM

Dynamic Materials (BOOM) has seen it's stock boom from $4 in mid-Nov to a new 52-week high today of $32.44. The co recently reported a blowout Q4 and swung into profitable territory. Helping the surge is the stock's tiny 2.2 mln share float.... A run like that almost always attracts momentum players to secondary names. One name that could come across the radar is SIFCO Industries (SIF). BOOM has two business segments: the Explosive Metalworking Group, which uses proprietary explosive processes to perform metal cladding, and AMK Welding, to weld components for jet engines and ground-based turbines.... SIFCO also provides metalworking processes including forging, heat-treating, coating, welding, etc. Segments include 1) Turbine Component Services and Repair Group, 2) Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group, and 3) Applied Surface Concepts Group. Q1 (Dec) sales were roughly flat yoy, and the co is not profitable, ex-items.... Can't say that the fundamentals of SIF excite us, but the point of this excercise is to scan for names that momentum traders may target next. SIF also has a small float at 4.9 mln shares, but does not trade a lot of volume. Mkt cap $26 mln, avg volume 9K.

    • Yes, the professional traders are picking this one up as a play on BOOM. If it breaks, it will keep going. BOOM went from $4 to $32. This one will most likely get a lot of attention tonight for a big play tomorrow....
