Not true any longer. GM and F are making great products. I have some of both. I have 18 year old Vette that has no problems except a fuel pump. A 16 year old Mustang I just sold that was running like a top at 200K miles. A 4 year old Silverado with 70K that I have not done anything at all (original belts, brake pads, shocks, etc, etc) except air filter and oil changes. We have tried the Toyota trucks (for construction) and they do not hold up nearly as good as F and GM, we get 250K-350K out of a GM or F work truck. The Nissan mini van we had was trash at 8 years old with 95k.
My son sold his 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid last week. He got a premium price for it because of high price of gasoline. He had major problems with the rear suspension, wearing out tires every 20,000 miles. Honda went cheap and changed their suspension in 2008. Good luck if you own a Honda.
