Union went out on strike again and management said liquidation!! tens of thousand teamsters jobs gone. Will we see another twinkie or ding dong snack again. Oh well must be what the union wanted. a whole lot less union jobs!
The largest employer in my home town went through the same process as Hostess. Union made their demands and company counter-offered. Company told the union leaders that that was all they could afford. If they did not accept it the plant would close. Guess what, union leaders flat out refused their offer; within days the plant was closed. Any contracts company had were sold out to SC-VA-NC companies.
That company was about the highest paying employer in the county. Now the county was/is depressed. The employees that lost their job and remained in the county found employment at almost minimum wage or they ended up on welfare.
The union president still tells the members that are still around that they did the best thing. They showed the company the employees can't be pushed around.
