Let's go back a few years to 1969, when GM ruled the automotive world.
1. Chevrolet....2,106,500 units sold.
Normally back then, GM owners bought GM cars. If Buick or Olds was gone, they would have bought a Chevy or Pontiac. They wouldn't have bought a Ford or Rambler or Dodge. Look at the profits that could have been made by doing away with a couple brands back then. They changed the body styles every year and did major changes every two or three years. What a costly investment. They had Chevy trucks, so what was the need for the GMC brand?? They could probably have increased sales and profits very easily, with 2/3rds the work force. my humble opinion, which of course means nothing today. How many people out there, including myself, even know the names of cars GM or Ford make today??
Toyota, Honda and Ford have the most recalls. I rarely hear recalls from Jeep, Mitsubishi or Suzuki.... and Fiat, Mercedes, does that mean they are better than the Toyota, Honda and Ford? You should buy a Jeep.
