I think you believe GM cars don't rust. The frame is rotted away under the bed of my '94 Silverado, both rear shocks fell off. I am trying to decide if it is worth fixing or junking.
Don't just knock foreign cars, union built are no better. And union says they build them better. Yukkk.
Toyota and Nissan experience the same problems with their light duty trucks in areas of our country where salt is used on the roads during winter. Has nothing to do with "union built". Ford has a recall right now on older Freestar vans - the rear axle will rust through - same salt related situation.
You do routine maintenance on your truck? Like washing the undercarriage? I thought this was an understood necessity? Should you not be practicing what I thought was understood, don't blame the truck. Blame the owner.
