The things that unions/labor do not understand that as the price of labor goes up, automation moves in to replace live labor. All you need to do is look at the assembly lines in the auto plants. The most visible areas is watching the robots do all of the welding and the painting. I remember where there were hundreds of laborers now there are just 3 or 4.
Business will reduce costs when ever able. The easiest cost reduction is in labor. Remove the humans. Machines run constantly, no complaining and overall cheaper.
The last I heard is MacDonalds is trying to perfect its automatic hamburger maker.
Just think scarbrobill as the Wall Street Casino Union bids the price of energy the higher McDonalds cost go up. But these guys on Wall Street want a Christmas Bonus at the expense of the Consumer. They bumped up the price of Gasoline by over 6 cents last Friday. We have a 22 year high in crude oil inventories, gasoline inventories have increased by 16.8 million barrels just over the last three weeks, but you seem to want to blame labor for everything.
