"Come on wngr, when Delco started building window motors in Mexico they was Junk."
I hate to be the one to break this to you Jeye, but Delphi/Delco made junk everywhere they had a plant before their bankruptcy. It was so bad that GM was forced to source to them regardless of cost or quality. Since their bankruptcy, they have made what is probably one of the most remarkable turnarounds of any corporation that I know of. Their quality is competitive and their cost is great.
Besides, how many decades ago was that?
"Why aren't the Illegals going home?"
Simple, because they can make more money here, even in the worst jobs we have to offer. That's how uncompetitive we are in this country. You just made my point.
"Don't forget the Mexican factories were much newer than the American ones"
As I said earlier, capital will ALWAYS flow to the most efficient system. It's natural economic law.
"But higher management have to compete with know one, make bad deal like Fiat. How many Joint Ventures with smaller Japanese companies?"
And where are all those management people now? Gone. Wouldn't it be nice if every time a UAW guy screwed up, he would be fired too?

Yes and set for Life.Like Roger Smith $3 Million a year pension and later reduced to $1.5 million. How much is Jack Smith getting?
A woman at the Coldwater plant asked the Plant manager why did GM stamp Olds on one Dip stick and Chev or Buick on another when they was all the same engines, he didn't have a answer. Just like putting AC spark plugs from England in a Buick with a AC plant within walking distance. Both sides made mistake and some of the mistakes were political and had nothing to do with labor. Now CEOs are complaining about Canada nothing has change other than currency. Isn't Europe the same place GM got the plugs, oil filter and air cleaner now the ones losing money for GM
