Oh no - GM's Full Sized Truck inventory is growing...
That must be bad. The spiny mouse (and other GM basher boneheads) is going to puff his little tiny chest and demand attention has he professes this to be the end of GM. First, however, let's do some math. You can check ANY of these numbers at GM's website.
Fact: GM's FST inventory is around 234K vehicles
Fact: GM's FST January sales is 60,574 vehicles (this is ALL FST - not just pickups)
Simple math suggests that there's about 3.8 months of vehicles ready for sales in inventory.
Now, headlines today show that GM Plans 10-Weeks of Pickup Downtime as Inventories Rise. We ALL know that the 3 plants are going to shut down for the new models. The changes are significant thus the 10W of shutdown. 10W is ~2.5 months - "BUT WAIT", you say, "GM has 3.8 months of inventory!"
What the bonehead bashers may forget to realize is that when the new FST start rolling down the assembly line, it's at a reduced rate during launch of a new product. That's the rationale for having "extra" inventory.
So, the inventory levels are PLANNED just right.
Meanwhile, GM's sales continue to whup everyone else, by a decent margin, in the U.S. as usual. Heck, GM's FST sales outsold the 2 top selling CARS in January.
Facts are fun. Dogbreath and spiny mouse are going to have a tizzy here...
