Toyota told California to go to hell and closed the Freemont Plant.
GM spokeswoman Erin Davis indicates that her company is mulling a new $38-million expansion to its Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant and has approached that city for tax abatements. Davis commented that ”We are working on a business case for potential future investment at LGR that would be at the LGR assembly plant. The investment would fund facility improvements to strengthen our manufacturing capability here.” However, she declined to supply any specifics about the project or whether the future investment is connected to the Chevrolet Camaro, which will move from Ontario to the Lansing plant in the future.
GM gave it to Toyota, Toyota came into the plant latrer. Remember the jointly produce vehicles there that Consumer Report gave Toyota good grades, but bash the same vehicle that had the GM label. It was a stupid move for GM to build it out there trying to get the California people to buy a American product.
