((((Car sales will be released in morning. GM will benefit from this plus they will announce a dividend for their shareholders.))))
I don't expect to hear that GM had any strong sales in December.
I hardly see ANY new GM's on the road out here anymore. A few years ago, during the go-go housing boom out here, it was Escalades that were all the rage. Then, it was Camaros everywhere, for a year or two.
Right now, there really isn't ANY GM model that you see many of. Not even the new Stingray, which I think looks great.
In fact, I actually see more Tesla Model S's than I see 2014 Chevy Pickups. I saw a black Model S last night, and probably 4-5 total in the past week.
2014 Chevy Pickup sightings are RARE. My GM dealer friend says when he looked at the pickups on his lot, a lot of them have $40,000 sticker prices. No wonder they are rare! However, I DID see one 2014 Silverado on the road today -- it was a white one. This is the first one I have seen in many days....probably a week or more. Yes, it was ugly. The 2014s are easy to spot when they have that chicken wire grillework, boxy front ends, and step bumpers borrowed from the Avalanche. The overall truck looks really bad to me, except the back end of it, which is by far the nicest view of the truck. The rear end would be wonderful without the stupid Chevy golden bowtie logo.
PS: As far as a dividend, THAT is something I strongly doubt....unless it's very small. Why? GM still has huge unfunded pension liabilities, and big loss writeoffs this quarter due to Europe, Peugeot, etc. Do you not recall this? They already warned you.
