Before my hard earned tax dollars go to prop up the airline industry, I'd like to see some major concessions in pilot wages. I don't need to subsidize a mansion on a golf course for a guy who works 15 days a month--that money could be better used elsewhere!
I would like to see a reduction in exec pay before any bailout goes through. THEY are the one's who neglected security for profits. I'm not in the industry but I seem to hear the pilots speak out on security quite often. I'm sorry, but I can't see the pilots as anything but the victoms here.
Sales were slumping before the terrorist act. should we bail out hotels, car rental, insurance? dot-coms, why not the whole economy. Everything is a tradeoff in gov spending. If there is excess capacity in airlines, let the strong survive. My point is that pilots salaries are way out of whack with earnings. No one was at fault for security--nothing could have stopped this except early intel.
