I just saw the below at Bloomberg.com It is abbreviated for this post. They state that UTC will increase it by about 8%. To me, that is low. I would say at least 10% if you look to history.
CononcoPhillips, United Technologies Corp. and 3M Co. are among 12 Standard & Poor’s 500 Index companies that may boost their dividends next week, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
ConocoPhillips, the third-largest U.S. oil company, may raise its quarterly payout to 58 cents from 55 cents, according to Bloomberg estimates that factor in earnings and options prices. United Technologies, the maker of Pratt & Whitney jet engines, may increase its dividend to 46 cents from 42.5 cents, and 3M, the maker of Thinsulate, may declare a 56-cent payout, up from 52.5 cents.
Companies projected to increase dividends this week, in cents:
COMPANY PAYOUT PROJECTION
United Technologies 42.5 46
3M 52.5 56
Northeast Utilities 25.625 27.75
Sigma-Aldrich 16 17.5
EOG Resources 15.5 16.5
ConocoPhillips 55 58
CSX 26 28
Wyndham Worldwide 12 13.5
SCANA 47.5 48.5
Robert Half International 13 14
Omnicom Group 20 22
NextEra Energy 50 52.75
This is the 5th Qtr that they are paying the .385. They should increase it next time if they hold to recent tradition. They have been raising it every 5 quarters. They should announce it at the next talk to analysts.
Based on the Yahoo Company Events listing:
17-Nov-10 Ex-Date for dividend payment of $0.425
Either they DID increase the dividend or $.385 is an old number. I did not research any further back to see which is which. Your investment just got better! ;>)
The June dividend payout, which is likely to be increased following UTC's every 5th Q pattern, will be declared by the Board in mid-April.
UTC management does not make announcements re dividends.
>I said "How many companies (any?)....etc". I did not say that UTC was the only company. Indeed, I asked "how many"....and parenthetically asked if there were "any?.<
By conventional thinking and reasoning, your post implies that there aren't "any" besides UTC. How's that Clipper Wind thing working out? I still like UTC, but, I'm not ready to go down to Jonestown.
As my final post on this topic, I know we have kind of flogged it, I plead guilty, the dividends shown below are for IBM. It shows that IBM dividends have been raised 62.5 % during the period under discussion, just like MCD. So, UTX is not the Lone Ranger, there are many great companies out there. Some highly regarded companies like BRKA, Berkshire-Hathaway, pay no dividends. BRKA has never split.
