Why buy a gold miner like MDW?

Geithner says the United States will hit the 14.29 trillion statutory debt limit on Monday. I hate to see this happen but you can't spend more than your taking in all the time. What effect will this have on the dollar???
Midway Gold was in the .60's in November and is now 1.59. There has been a pullback but so does the stock market before zoomimg up.

    • this is start of the presidential campaign: the dollar is being manipulated up. silver is being manipulated down. so are oil, gold and other commodities. so what if it's manipulation? it is what it is. it doesn't matter why. manipulation or not, things aren't going the right way for those who old mining stocks.

Manipulation cannot be sustained, it cannot go on forever and this will play itself out. Presidential election or not, if the debt crisis is not dealt with, the dollar will devalue. Paulson knows it and so do savvy investors, this bodes well for gold, gold miners and gold investors, maybe they'll be a lull before the storm, but it's inevitable that gold will be bought as a safe haven for investors.
