    I got me little calculator...

...out and some figurin'...according to HPTX's prospectus:

"We believe that approximately 425 of the estimated 1,100 patients currently diagnosed with UCD are treated with BUPHENYL, approximately 90 patients are currently taking Ravicti in one of our clinical trials and the remainder go untreated or elect to manage their disease through protein restriction and/or the use of dietary supplements."

...now let's see...HPTX currently has a market cap of approximately 500 million dollars...divide that by those roughly 500 patients and we get 100 million dollars!!...

,,,100 MILLION dollars PER patient???...gee, HPTX will have to file an 8K reporting a "material adverse effect" every time one of its customers catches a cold!!...HAW!!!...

...seriously, has there EVER been a company so dependent on so few customers? ...

..doing a little more calculating, by stockmarket standards each ONE of those patients is worth roughly 65 THOUSAND ounces of GOLD at current prices!...dang!...HPTX should consider reserving some space in Fort Knox to protect them!...HAW!!!...

...well, at least we know where to take the ransom note if any of them get kidnapped!...HAW, HAW, HAW!!!!...

    Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • rrtzrealmd, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the comic relief! Now I'm not a math major, but I think you may want to check your numbers there.

      • ...well, son, I'm sorry but I was laughing so hard at OMER hitting those new 52 week lows just one after another after another, I could barely see what I was typing!...HAW!!!...

...but you're right -- those patients are worth only a measly MILLION bucks apiece!...

...darn, why, that's only 40 pounds worth of gold!...although that may still be enough to reserve a space in Fort Knox!...HAW!!...

...but still, it doesn't change the basic argument -- when ya only got 500 customers, one of them suckers gets the flu, the whole company gets sick!...HAW!!!...

...by the way, I'm thinking about starting a little smuggling operation -- getting some mules to swallow little rubber bags filled with Phenburane and then flying'em into Kennedy...you wouldn't happen to be looking for some part-time work, would'ya?...pay's good!!...HAW, HAW, HAW!!!...

        Sentiment: Strong Sell

This is pretty bad too from the HPTX 10K. Lucane Pharma has submitted an ANDA for Pheburane that completely masks the taste of Buphenyl. In less than 20 months, Lucane's Pheburane will probably be approved and available for sale. What will that do to the sales of Rivacti priced at $250,000?

      • ...oh, now doggone it!...stop that!...I was saving that for later!...

...anyway, now that you ruined my surprise -- from two weeks ago:

"The Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended the granting of a marketing authorisation for sodium phenylbutyrate (Pheburane®) as adjunctive therapy in the chronic management of urea cycle disorders, involving deficiencies of carbamylphosphate synthetase, ornithine transcarbamylase or argininosuccinate synthetase. It is indicated in all patients with neonatal-onset presentation, and in patients with late-onset disease who have a history of hyperammonaemic encephalopathy."

...I wonder what Lucan plans on charging...whatever it is, i bet it won't be $300,000 per patient and I bet third party reimbursers will be looking at it real close...

        Sentiment: Strong Sell
